Course
Building Services Design Technicians provide assistance to engineers and construction professionals. The job role involves working with a range of systems, some of which include renewable technology, heating, drainage and lighting. The Level 3 Building Services Design Technician Course entails the production of three dimensional models, calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
During the 18-month course, apprentices will help to develop technical and sustainable design solutions that are cost effective. Candidates will be expected to assist with project delivery, more specifically contributing to planning and budgeting. They will also carry out site engineering, such as operating quality systems and Safety & Risk Management. Learners will generally be working under supervision in a design consultancy, contractors or manufacturers.
The ESFA apprenticeship funding requires candidates to allocate a minimum of 20% of their contractual working hours to the programme over each 12-18 month programme period. (This includes learning related activities in the workplace) The blended programme would be delivered as follows:

Candidates will also be required to create a comprehensive e-portfolio of evidence which will be signed o each month by their mentor and Skills4Stem Assessor.

The end-point assessment is separate to any qualifications or other assessment that the apprentice may undertake during training. The apprentice will not be able to achieve the apprenticeship without passing the end-point assessment.
The assessment should include a minimum of two different assessment methods.
End point assessments give assurance that the apprentice possesses the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be fully competent in the occupation.
End point assessments are undertaken by an independent third party who has had not been involved in the training or line management of the apprentice, and who is on the Register of Apprenticeship Assessment Organisations.
Please note: If the candidate does not pass the end point assessment the employer will be liable to pay Skills4Stem the outstanding 20% of the fee via invoice.
