A Civil Engineering Technician works with other engineers providing technical support on a wide range of different construction projects within infrastructure and the built environment. During the 36-month Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, learners will cover key construction and design principles and gain a solid understanding of building regulations and health and safety protocols. They will also learn how to produce accurate technical models and drawings using computer aided design (CAD) software to contribute to the design of building projects. The candidate will build a strong and varied skill set including attention to detail, maths knowledge and effective communication and interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively to produce integrated engineering solutions.
The ESFA apprenticeship funding requires candidates to allocate a minimum of 20% of their contractual working hours to the programme over each 12-18 month programme period. (This includes learning related activities in the workplace) The blended programme would be delivered as follows:

Candidates will also be required to create a comprehensive e-portfolio of evidence which will be signed o each month by their mentor and Skills4Stem Assessor.

The end-point assessment is separate to any qualifications or other assessment that the apprentice may undertake during training. The apprentice will not be able to achieve the apprenticeship without passing the end-point assessment.
The assessment should include a minimum of two different assessment methods.
End point assessments give assurance that the apprentice possesses the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be fully competent in the occupation.
End point assessments are undertaken by an independent third party who has had not been involved in the training or line management of the apprentice, and who is on the Register of Apprenticeship Assessment Organisations.
Please note: If the candidate does not pass the end point assessment the employer will be liable to pay Skills4Stem the outstanding 20% of the fee via invoice.
