Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) grades are changing from 1st July 2015
Did you know….that from 1st July 2015 the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) will be CLOSING Associate (ACIOB) and Incorporated (ICIOB) grades to new members?
Newcomers to CIOB will be known as ‘Applicant’ or Student, but will not be permitted to put letters after their name until they become fully Chartered. All other CIOB grades remain unchanged.
The CIOB are making this revision following consultation with members and wider industry.
The CIOB’s new grading system will be more transparent to clients, employers and the general public; creating a clearer distinction between Chartered and non-Chartered Members. It will also emphasise the skills and competencies of Chartered Builders and Construction Managers, recognising the experience and hard work that has gone into achieving MCIOB and FCIOB.
The ACIOB and ICIOB grades were intended to be stepping stones towards Chartered status. Our data suggests that many ACIOB and ICIOB members are well qualified to undergo our Professional Review for Chartered Membership.
Achieving full Chartered Membership brings many benefits, not least because Chartered Members now have a choice of Chartered Construction Manager as well as Chartered Builder.
Skills4Stem deliver the CIOB Chartered Membership Programme and support with the Professional Review process ‘in-house’, through ‘open’ training courses and via distance learning.
